Affected dates: 25th–30th June, 2026
All long-distance trains. Due to the ongoing heatwave across parts of Germany, DB Fernverkehr is offering a special goodwill arrangement between 25 and 30 June 2026.
The goodwill policy does not apply to tickets that are valid only for regional or local transport.
If you booked your ticket on or before 23 June 2026 for travel between 25 and 30 June 2026, you may cancel your journey free of charge if you no longer wish to travel because of the extreme heat.
This applies to long-distance tickets, including Super Sparpreis (Europa), Sparpreis (Europa), Flexpreis, and any included regional segments, as well as seat reservations.
- Check before you travel: Please check the Deutsche Bahn website before leaving and continue to monitor for service updates, as conditions may change throughout the day.
- Plan ahead: Kindly allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative routes or modes of transport.
- Travel tips: Stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and take care in the hot weather. If you feel unwell during your journey, please ask station or onboard staff for assistance.
If you no longer wish to travel due to the extreme heat, you can request a refund by completing the DB goodwill form using your DB Auftragsnummer.
Partial cancellations of digital tickets are not possible. The ticket specified in the form will be cancelled in full. Any segments, such as a return journey outside the above-mentioned travel period, will also be cancelled and can no longer be used.
Can I get a refund for my seat reservation?
Yes, seat reservations can be cancelled for free. You can claim a refund directly through Deutsche Bahn.
