Affected dates: 02nd-04th May, 2026
From Saturday 2 to Monday 4 May 2026 (Bank Holiday weekend), planned engineering works will take place between Darlington and York.
- Southbound LNER services from Scotland and Newcastle will terminate at Darlington or Northallerton.
- Northbound services from London King’s Cross will terminate at York instead of continuing further north.
- Rail replacement coach services may operate to help you complete your journey.
If you are travelling from the North East or Scotland towards York and beyond, please change at Darlington for direct rail replacement coaches to York, where you can continue your journey by train. Please note that there are no southbound replacement coach connections from Northallerton for LNER arrivals.
- Check before you travel: Please check the LNER website and search for your itinerary on the main page. Any cancelled or disrupted services will be indicated in the results. We recommend that you check back regularly before you travel.
- Plan ahead: Kindly allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative routes or modes of transport.
- Stay updated: For more updates, please check the LNER website here or their Twitter and Facebook pages.
If your train is cancelled or rescheduled and you choose not to travel, you can contact our Customer Service team to request a refund. Please note that this must be no later than 28 days after the ticket expiry date.
Refundable tickets can be cancelled, subject to normal fare conditions, through the Your Bookings page.
